A debut on BCB Tech for German duo Motorcitysoul and thankfully the Manic Mondays EP is not a deep house homage to Susanna Hoffs and co. Christian Rindermann and Matthias Vogt are responsible for everything here, offering up three variations on the theme, with the A Side main mix an exercise in pulsating synth drama that has energetic peak time flex written all over it. This is complemented by the straight up jack of the 'Manic Mix' that opens the proceedings on the flip, with a kaleidoscopic synth bass riff that's a less schizophrenic cousin to the melodic drive of DJ Mujava's "Township Funk". It is however the dub version that comes with the Juno recommendation; there's a real warmth that emanates from the bassline which is matched by the piano flourishes that act as melodic propulsion. Not hard to see why the likes of Tim Green and Shur I Kan are loving the dub.
