Kompakt revisit the material from The Field's masterful third album Looping State Of Mind with the first of several mooted remix packages - and the bar has truly been set with their chosen artists here. Canadian duo Junior Boys are handed the unenviable task of stamping their own stylistic authority on the album's title track and ten minute centre piece - and they pull it off with aplomb. The originals' loping, perma droning refrain is still intact, but Greenspan & Didemus add all manner of opulent synth spirals and crunchy beat programming that gives the track a hint of primitive DIY electronics, while the rippling, almost gaseous bassline drives the track forward in unpredictable fashion. On the flip, RVNG Intl duo Blondes turn "It's Up There" into a woozy, trance inducing mass of loveliness that could feasibly have appeared on their LP while Mohn duo Jorg Burger and Wolfgang Voigt go otherworldly on a delightfully expansive rendition of "Then It's White".
