Given that he established the Waxtefacts label earlier in the year, it's rather surprising to discover that this is the first 'full' release from big cheese Librarian (he previously contributed a couple of tracks to the imprint's first release). God Gave Us Scissors To Cut Up Samples is a typically entertaining affair, with the dusty-fingered producer delivering a quartet of atmospheric house cuts built around unusual sample choices and loose, MPC style house grooves. Highlights come thick and fast, from the glistening guitar lines and lo-fi drum machine percussion of "Hope We Can Live On The Moon Someday" and wild, loose, Theo Parrish style edit-house stomp of "Journey (Edit)", to the dense African drums, woozy vocal samples and chiming melody lines of closer "Man It's After You".
