The loosely-organised production free-for-all that is the La PeNa imprint delivers missive number nine in the slow but steady 12" series, with the artists responsible shrouded in mystery. It's safe to say that the style comes from the angle of post-minimal house music, as intricate layers of organic percussion twist themselves around subtly emanating melodies in a streamlined and strung-out haze of tracks built for long nights. The groove is particularly engaging on "Discodogs", but it's really the madcap antics of "High Noon" that steal the show; creepy vocals and strange found sounds creating a distinctive atmosphere above the cautious beat.
