Scoring your debut release on Mathematics should command you a certain level of respect, and Italian producer Joe Drive has continued to demonstrate an improvement in style since appearing on Jamal Moss' label last year with the RD-2452 EP. This debut on Gerd's 4Lux imprint comes after accomplished drops for Lux Rec, Skylax offshoot Cosmic Club and Simoncino's Hot Mix imprint and Drive's three original productions show a pleasant disregard for conforming to many of the substandard tropes currently within deep house. Lead track "Rain Dance (Mas)" sounds like several different tracks rescued from the deep waters and stitched together with a gentle off-kilter approach that's reminiscent of Vakula while "Junopolis" wastes little time in locking into a tight groove, allowing Drive to pay homage to the Juno synth by demonstrating his deftness at manipulating it. On the flip Alden Tyrell calls shotgun, dropping his heads down refix of "Tefnut" before Drive can show off the deepness of the original.
