Having surfaced late in 2011 on a limited white label crudely emblazoned with the catalogue number PW01, the latest jacking excellence from Robsoul's Phil Weeks gets a release proper in the first few days of the new year. Presented on clear vinyl, the Jack To My Groove EP is typical perma jacking Weeks fare, with the title track proving to be a potent and hypnotic effort in particular. All expertly placed vocal samples and creeping basslines forming with rhythmic excellence around constantly undulating drums. Alongside it Weeks presents a tough dub take on "El Underground", the Los Escorpiones collaboration betwixt Chi Town heavyweight Sneak and Hector Moralez. On the flip "Gotta Feelin'" is Weeks at his finest, all playful filtered vocal leads and multi layered percussive swagger - the latter part where the creeping analogue lines and urgent vocals take centre stage is superb.
