Salsoul rekindle their funk with a return the oft-forgotten boogie corner of their repertoire. All released between 82-83, each track cuts bold funk shapes from the label's disco roots: an early Shep Pettibone edit gives Instant Funk a tougher, groove-focused edged, Regisford and Birch really gave life to the slap bass and percussion on "Stroke It" while both Mason and Dayo's "You Can Do It" and The Jammers dim the lights for slower, sugar-coated come-to-bed-boogie jams. Finally, one of Salsoul Orchestra's last recordings "Take Some Time Out" enjoys a kindly rewind by way of a short, sweet 12" version. Essential.
