"LeonardMcGeonardvsDrunkenCalculator" |
Big, brash industrially charged rock from former Mellodrone member Jonathan Bates who returns to his side project Big Black Delta for the provocatively titled Ifuckingloveyou. Arriving on the equally auntie bothering Master Of Bates label, Big Black Delta essentially poses the following question "If you didn't have standard pop music as a reference, what would your pop music sound like?" The answer on the title track is an unashamedly glam referencing racket of noise and over dramatic harmonies that can only be tongue in cheek and all the better for it. "LeonardMcGeonardvsDrunkenCalculator" meanwhile is a lot more experimental in its tone, sounding like a slowly evaporating c90 tape playing out the malfunctioning last moments of a room full of studio equipment. Watch out for Jimmy Edgar and Sei A remixes of the title track by the way.
