    Review

A belated return to record stores for the most bonkers woman in music, as her acclaimed 2008 album Hurricane gets the re-release treatment. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this double CD set isn't the original album, which for those who missed out, is well worth a listen - but rather the second CD of dubbed versions. It sees original producer Ivor Guest revisit the tracks in a traditional dub style, emphasizing basslines, stripping back the grooves and drenching Jones' vocals in echo, delay and reverb. For the most part, it's a total overhaul that really works, recalling Jones' fruitful collaborations with Sly & Robbie at Compass Point studios in the tropical early '80s Bahamas.
