First announced more than 12 months ago, Jorge Velez's eight track journey through conceptual synth scapes on Hassan ranks among our most anticipated releases in the L.I.E.S. canon and its final appearance here puts to bed concerns there was some voodoo curse placed on the project. Stricken by pressing plant nightmares, Hassan's impact is not lessened one jot despite the delays, and in fact it probably fits more in line with the current diversity of L.I.E.S. than when it was scheduled to be released anyway. Coming across as a sort of Middle Eastern sonic sibling to the astounding Jahiliyya Fields issue, Professor Genius aka Jorge Velez crafts an intoxicating array of meditative synth explorations with little concern for attempts at beat structure at times. Truly a collection to of tracks to let your turntable spend some time getting to know and there's also the added bonus of an accompanying remix plate brandishing efforts from Steve Summers and his namesake Moore and Runaway don Marcos Cabral that usher the source in the direction of the dancefloor in inimitable L.I.E.S. fashion.
