Living up to their name in every way, these Japanese showstoppers were picked up by Keb Darge and have lived up to the hype ever since. Here we have their new single from their latest eponymous album, and it's quite the attraction. "Halyards" has been given the Midas touch by homeland heroes Kyoto Jazz Massive. The end result is a cute Q&A discourse relayed in minor key with sudden switches in time signature and a mournful middle eighth. "Relative" comes with a more Mancini style score flavour and "Jazz Collective" acts as a perky, classic ballroom theme tune for the band. The biggest attraction here, though, is their 12" version of "Vision Of Phase" which is heavy enough to sing to fans of Detroit techno as well as jazz.
