The Lauren Bacall imprint has only been around long enough for us to be aware that it deals in gritty lo fi dance music, but other than that, we're just as much in the dark as everyone else. The same thing goes for the mysterious Grant, an artist who has only put out one prior track, making this follow up debut album all the more impressive. The Acrobat is a moody piece of work, mixing up grainy dance beats with subtle Chicago flavours, and Grant has masterfully crafted the art of combining left field house together with more warehouse prone techno. The twelve tunes swing and dust their way across grey-scaled landscapes, but the shadowy producer still retains a soulful element to his groove, a subtly funky air that breathes life into the crunchy beats and low-resolution sounds, If you're into your house dirty and raw, you'll love this. It's perfect for both listening and vibing.
