"A Good Time To Pray" was a highlight of Trickski's album for the Suol imprint released earlier this year, with Ernesto's yearning vocals the perfect fit for the slow burning dusty groove. Thus it seems perfectly suited for further exploration via the art form that is the remix, and Suol have excelled in their chosen artists here. Studio Barnhus' resident tattoo obsessive Axel Boman adds to his rightfully growing reputation with a deep burnt remix that initially plunges Ernesto's vocals far down into the lower recesses of the mix beneath an intricately placed array of off kilter drum sounds, before they arise in cahoots with a delightfully glitchy melody. Vast swathes of shimmering chords remain in the background throughout which really adds some emotive depth. Rush Hour's Tom Trago excels too, his MFB 522 remix quickly settling into a twilight tinged basement jam, revolving around the simplest of elements in Ernesto's vox, a kick drum and pitched toms. Barcelona's Soul Minority adds a straight house flex to round off this release in style.
