Good Don't Sleep CD

Foppish Brit group Egyptian Hip Hop has a stated ambition to "create the best progressive and psychedelic pop music". It's an ambition that's taken them from Moshi Moshi also rans to major R&S signings. This debut album may not make them big stars, but it's likely it will raise their profile significantly. At times, their slow motion indie-pop sounds like early Hot Chip after a night on '60s-strength acid, at others like a lo-fi take on 1990 shoegaze. Throughout, there's a lazy looseness and fuzziness to Good Don't Sleep that makes it strangely addictive. They're still a work in progress, but this is an impressive step in the right direction.
