"Arpy" |
After launching in style with the bumping flex of Damon Martin, Disco Bloodbath's fledgling label maintains its standards as one of the other residents Ben Pistor debuts under the Hand Plant moniker. The project is a collaboration with Maxxi Soundsystem's Sam Watts and apparently calls on "old and new synths, samples, Berlin, aircraft, what happens in the early hours, ecstasy pads that make you rush" as their core influences. They open in undeniably epic fashion with "Gone Ghost" a sprawling retro futurist house cut with a stripped back rhythmic foundation that allows the heavily filtered melodic core the space it requires to fully engulf all who encounter it. Respect is due for the commission of mysterious Cyncic producer Jamie Blanco, who's Acid Rework of the title track is rammed with brilliant 303 modulations and much, much more. Pistor and Watts serve further notice of their collective potential on the aggressive Italo come tech rave monster "Arpy".
