For fans of Goldfrapp - and there are many - this seventh studio album has been a long time coming. In some ways, the fans have a point; it's been four long years since the usually prolific duo of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory last dropped an LP. Happily, Silver Eye has the feel of a fan favourite in waiting; a full-length that returns to the glistening cheeriness of their synth-pop heyday, rather than the cinematic ballads of 2012's slightly more experimental Tales of Us. While some critics have suggested it may be time for them to innovate again, nobody can argue that the evocative synth-pop songs here are not attractive, entertaining and liable to result in weeks spent singing the lyrics in the shower. In other words, it's vintage Goldfrapp.
