One of the more recent additions to Berlin's transplanted house and techno community, Danny Berman aka Red Rack Em has been busy at work on his debut album as Hot Coins, slated for release later this year under the Geek Emotions title. As a taster, Gerry Read and Estonian "house not house" producer Ajukaja are called on to remix the title track, and with no available clue as to the original sound, all we can do is focus on the results. Last seen working with his country's most famous export in Maria Minerva and notable for plenty of work under his real name Raul Saaremets, Ajukaja calls shotgun with a woozily intoxicating rendition that seemingly breaks down all the original elements into a thickly satisfying groove that drives ever forward with infinite momentum while remaining steadfastly on the outside of traditional house sounds. It's matched by Gerry Read's remix which shows the youngster is willing and able to embrace real moments of sonic beauty as well as unrelenting brutality. There are still unnerving elements at play, such as the out of time plucked samples and gurgling analogue bass line that stays menacingly out of shot, yet there is also the most charming of fogged out string arrangements that repeatedly appears throughout before finally breaking through and releasing its full emotive range.
