Manchester label Death of Rave likes nothing more than to confound expectations, with releases so far coming from artists as diverse as Powell, Delroy Edwards, Mark Leckey and Wold. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense for the label's next release to be a journey through precise electronic pulses from Budapest-based Gabor Lazar, a producer whose music sits somewhere between Florian Hecker and SND. Entitled EP16, Lazar's record for The Death of Rave features "viscerally affective electronic timbre" and "hyperkinetic patterns" of hardcore, footwork, electro and digital dancehall, fused together with "uncompromising electronic tones to create some kinda new rhythmelodic syntax and grammar of his own." The six track release apparently comes ahead of a collaborative LP between Lazar and Mark Fell that is due on Death Of Rave at some point in the near future, which is exciting news indeed!
