Alex Akers' Forces moniker is about the only credible source of contemporary EBM in our world, and this debut album on Fleisch is kind of a big deal if you've been patiently awaiting a follow-up to 2013's Melbourne Music Week Mercat. As you can imagine, these six tunes waste no time in getting their point across, with "Run" heading straight down the path of inglorious doom and cacophonous, beat-driven distortion. "I Don't Measure" still retains Forces' characteristic use of harsh beat phasing but the groove is a much leaner affair that's more suitable to dancefloor use, while "We Shared A Lover" goes for the neo-romantic touch. The edits of "Idolize" and "Ice" recall classic Nitzer Ebb head-banging of the highest calibre, whereas "Bell Of Light" takes a turn for the unexpected, landing us in a dark, cerebral atmosphere of booming sounds and sci-fi effects. Fleisch is the place!
