According to his Discogs, the name Fiedel is representative of a Russian folk song about a birch tree that was chopped down and used to make a fiddle. This may be the inspiration behind the Berghain resident's latest fromage-laced electro EP Ferro, the debut release on his Fiedelone imprint. The title track "Ferro" doesn't take itself too seriously as explained by its Euro dance melody; credibility is salvaged however by clever pitch-bending techniques and lo-fi swung drums. Lovers of Chicagoan jack will woot in mirth to the key-stab loops of "Andreas", while Fiedel's penchant for bootylicious drum programming shines through in a special "Bonus Beats" track, which harbours all the perquisites for a stripped back electro minimal funk classic.
