Following on from Eddie C's monumental release, Hometaping opt to introduce us to the classic house sounds of Hotel Motel. Don't be fooled though, as the brains behind Hotel Motel have plenty of form when it comes to encouraging the movement of feet and hips. Naturally the name Bill Brewster will be familiar to most: co-author of perhaps the most conclusive history of DJing, co founder of DJhistory, producer, promoter, DJ and former chef all follow in the sentences describing this musical boffin. Brewster is the Hotel to Alex Tepper's Motel, with the latter part of famed house cadets Futureshock. "Eye No" excels in its simplistic approach to house music, treated heavily with the raw old school dynamics of the genre's forebearers, but finished off with just the right degree of contemporary polish. The piano led melody that undulates throughout - subjected to plenty of frequency modulation - hangs in the memory long after the track has expired. The flipside treatment from Burnt Island Casuals aka Hometaping regulars The Revenge and DJ Harri adds a wealth of reverb and delay into the mix, crafting a sweaty warehouse groove atop throbbing bass. A very promising debut from Hotel Motel that augers well for the duo's forthcoming release for Under The Shade featuring the vocal talents of disco chanteuse Kathy Diamond.
