Eskimo Recordings Presents: The Green Collection CD

Having previously released Pink and Blue themed compilations, Eskimo have decided to go Green for their latest trawl through atmospheric nu-disco and Balearic electronic pastures. That's about has high concept as the collection gets; certainly, there's little "green" about most of the tracks, stylistically or otherwise. Thankfully, the quality threshold is high, meaning highlights are plentiful. These include the eccentric, slap bass-heavy disco-pop of Knight One's "Shimmer", the roughneck Scandolearic chug of Man Power's "Skattejag" and the wonky, anthem-like throb of Trulz & Robin's "Me To You". Best of all, though, is Kraak & Smaak's "Ghostnote", a perfectly pitched fusion of midtempo Italo-disco grooves, spine-tingling pianos and eyes-wide-shut Balearic intent.
