Some four years after Lexx debuted "Eminent Times", his masterful blend of Prince and The Who, the Swiss edit maestro opts to finally release the track as one of four superlative and varied edits for the Messalina imprint. "Eminent Times" opens the EP in fine style and the quality is matched throughout, none more so than on "So Different Here", a sugary tweak of a Rachel Sweet rarity that is filled with idiosyncratic sonic flourishes. Switching styles up again on the flip, the source material for "Go" is purported to be happy-go-lucky disco funkateers Spargo, but it's hard to tell on this deep twilight disco jam. Finally, Weyman Corporation's brilliant afro disco cut "Kumbayero" gets straightened out for ease of DJ play. Top release.
