To date Doldrums or Airick Woodhead has been known more for his association to high pitched pop star Grimes despite the fact the Montreal producer was handpicked to recently remix Portishead and delivered a quite excellent EP for No Pain In Pop in the shape of Empire Sound. The inventive collage of sounds and kaleidoscopic textures explored on that six track release is advanced on with the three tracker 12" Egypt. The title track alone presents Woodhead to grasp more ideas within the duration of one song than a cast of over hyped hopefuls could ever countenance executing, sounding like six different tracks merged together without losing rhythmic cohesion.
