Years after Double Dee and Steinski were "Feelin' James", this new collection on Gamm sees a host of top producers and DJ's "Doin' James". Containing 13 fantastic reworkings of the Godfathers' greatest moments - mostly from his late 60s/early 70s heyday - Bloodfire, The Geisha Boys, Pure P and more collectively get on the good foot in tribute to one of dance music's totemic figures. DJ Ayres' Bmore-esque rearrangement of "Give It Up And Turn It Loose" uses claps to brilliant effect, while Swing Session do a brilliant job of reinterpreting Bobby Byrd's timeless "I Know You Got Soul" on the driving fury of "U Got Soul". Pure P's Dilla-esque take on some of the most sampled beats ever - JB's "Funky President" - is yet another reason to get up, get into it and get involved.
