Review

Yes!! Crucial London label Citinite return from a two year period of silence, brandishing a killer Death Comet Crew platter replete with remixes from Hieroglyphic Being and Gifted & Blessed! For those unfamiliar, Death Comet Crew was a rap/electro crew that grew out of the mid '80s arts scene in New York City that featured Ike Yard duo Stuart Argabright and Michael Diekman, DJ High Priest, Shinichi Shimokawa of Black Rain fame and MC/graffiti artist Rammellzee. They only issued the one EP in their initial period, but have latterly regrouped (minus the sadly departed Rammellzee) and this Citinite release follows after a recent debut LP for Powell's Diagonal label. Much like that album, it's all brand new material here and it's great to see two of the USA's most visionary producers reworking them - the Hieroglyphic Being remix is a particular delight.
