After a period of downtime whilst RVNG Intl focused on some strong album campaigns, a 10th edition of the FRKWYS series is here and is based around one of the most storied musicians of recent US history. DC-born multi-instrumentalist David Van Tieghem was a drummer for Peter Gordon's Love Of Life Orchestra, and also worked with Laurie Anderson and Steve Reich. He's also got percussion credits on My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, the ground breaking album from David Byrne and Brian Eno. Noted for his ingenious approach to percussion (seek out the video for "Ear to the Ground") Van Tieghem's improvised performance using everyday items as rhythm points at a NYC gallery was later recreated sans audience and recorded by RVNG Intl with the resultant audio sent to a selection of ten modern day artists (including Future Times captain Max D) for further translation, "remix" and interpretation. Their results were subsequently passed back to Van Tieghem who edited them together as two long form productions that will appear on the tenth volume of FRKWYS along with a remix from Maxmillion Dunbar.
