Taking it back to the roots, with the heavy dubbed out flavours that characterize the genre way back when in the early noughties, old Croydon compadres N-Type and Cyrus team up for a 12" that just oozes bass weight. In "Dark Frequency" they employ a menacing echoing vocal sample, which serves to emphasize the inky black b-line and lurching rhythms and pummelling sub bass. In "Conscious", things are taken down a more pared down route, with psychological utterances, tribal drums and a grizzled moving b-line, almost reminiscent of early Skream in fact. One for fans of Youngsta, Loefah and Hatcha.
