"Ciao Bella" |
Mixed Blood Cuts come through with the sixth volume of their edits series courtesy of South Australian residing producer Golden Fleece, and there's been some real anticipation behind this one after Sir Weatherall and Tim Sweeney took a shine to the two tracks. It's not hard to see why with "Dancing In The Nude" transforming T Rex brilliantly into a dubby disco charged with a heavy duty bassline, satisfying beat crunch and schizophrenic approach to wonked synths. You'd be forgiven for thinking this one came from Richard Sen and his Padded Cell cohort Neil Higgins. This is more than complemented by the eleven minutes of sheer brilliance that is "Ciao Bella", the B Side counterpart. A spine tingling interpretation of Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi Is Dead" the Golden Fleece switches down the tempo slightly for a cut that descends into spectral Detroit techno territory as it proceeds. Not hard to see why Wevvers is particularly partial to this one!
