When Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers aren't launching dancefloor bombs of the house persuasion at us by leaders of the new breed like Butch or Bas Ibellini they're tapping Kalamazoo (Troxler's old stomping ground) legends like Donnell Knox for new material and we can dig that! The Sonic Mind boss now based in Warsaw has been releasing since the mid-nineties and this new one on Tuskegee is the bomb! The warm, minimal and cyclical groove of "All Energy" sets the mood adequately until "Chosen Goals" (on the flip) picks up the energy with its moody high tech soul aesthetic. "Intentions" gets on the back to basics aesthetic of the first track, getting an emotive and infectious groove going with nothing more than Mills style plucked strings, lush pads and rich synth textures.
