For those who've already fallen in love with Tevo Howard's distinctive take on Chicago jack, Crystal Republic/Pandora's Box will no doubt be an essential purchase. A combination of 2010's Crystal Republic EP and the previously unreleased Pandora's Box, this sees the Chicagoan DJ exploring a variety of his favourite themes over the course of an entertaining 14 track selection of dancefloor-centric cuts. You'll find Italo-influenced electronic house most expertly displayed on the titular "Pandora's Box", a canny melding of synth pop and jack (the Underground Mix of "Spend Some Time"), addictive acid ("The Instruction"), smart melodic deepness ("Autumn Spell", "Intersection"), arpeggio-heavy acid ("Crystal Republic") and even straightforward Chicago pop (the Pop Mix of "Spend Some Time"). Furthermore, Howard's finest moment - the unforgettable "I Won't Lay Back" (featuring his dad Rick Poppa Howard on vocal duties) is included for good measure. Pure class from start to finish.
