The young, up and coming Zurich producer delivers a four track EP for legendary Chicago based imprint, Mathematics. It is prime time deep Chicago house and techno territory with raw, jacking machine beats, lush synths and a warm and melancholic, vintage vibe.
The title track kicks off the EP with some slick production on a slowed down techno workout. Ping-ponging chords, deep sub bass, spacey synths and hi-fidelity beats with a techno sensibility collide in this spiralling track. Most interestingly, the bassline never stays still, constantly evolving, changing and adapting whilst always ensuring the groove remains in full swing. The piano drenched "Dreamin" is up next, keeping things moving along with more old school vibes. It is the squelching bass that gives the track that real old school rave feel but the distinct, sharp handclaps and acute hi-hats are also handy in that department. "Crusing" is awash with flashes of synths that are peppered with the stabbing beats of late 90s techno. Finishing with "Silence in the Morning," we are dropped into a vast sounding, ambient downtempo track. Yet after easing you in, that ambience gives way to a huge yet sluggish 4/4 house groove that takes you all the way in.
The mysterious Contra Communem Opinionem adds yet more intrigue to his growing reputation with his Chicago house abstractions on this EP. Soaked in his own inimitable attitude, the only way to get to grips with the young Swizz is to go and check it out for yourselves.
