Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, Conrad Schnitzler did more than almost anyone else to broaden the horizons of experimental electronic music in Germany. He inspired a huge number of producers from the country to blur the boundaries between art and music. One of those was Thomas Fehlmann - perhaps best known for his work with The Orb - who here puts together a collection of his favourite Schnitzler pieces. Focusing mostly on the early 1980s - known as Schnitzler's "White Period" - Fehlmann has cannily sequenced and lightly mixed the tracks to create an hypnotic, intoxicating fusion of out-there electronica, proto-techno, minimal wave experiments and post-punk oddities. It makes for enchanting, unusual listening.
