Ma Shiva vinyl

Clarian has largely impressed since making his debut on Visionquest last year. Following solid outings on Culprit and Turbo, he pops up on hyped Canadian imprint Multi Culti. There's a distinctly global feel to proceedings throughout, with Clarian melding Indian and South American influences with woozy, Visionquest-ish deep house grooves. The slowly unfurling deep house exotica of "Dystopia" is probably our pick, though the deep synth-pop style eyes-wide-shut haziness of "Ma Shiva" also impresses. The EP's best moment actually comes from Invisible Conga People, whose trippy, late night reinterpretation of "Ma Shiva" - all heavy, analogue-sounding bass, delay-laden rhythmic shuffle and tactile late night electronics - is simply superb.
