Continuing his series of wonderfully strange, analogue incantations pitched somewhere between house and techno, Andy Blake is on searing form with this latest instalment of Cave Paintings. "Cave Paintings 4X" runs on a warm, electro bassline, but the real distinction in the tune comes from the atonal drones that ride constantly in the background, intoning an eerie message from the netherworld (or so it would seem). Meanwhile "Cave Paintings 4Y" is a funkier number, using more clipped brushstrokes of synth and a tasty swing to finish up with a no-nonsense groover for those who like their party music a little left of centre.
