Swiss duo Mercury came to the fore in the post 2006 blog electro boom, and have been subtly tweaking their sounding in the subsequent period with a clutch of remixes and EPs across labels such as Made To Play, Kitsune, Exploited and Gomma Dance Tracks. The Candlelight EP marks their third outing on Munk's recent subsidiary and opens with the title track, a simmering collaboration with Robert Owens. The voice of a thousand house tracks, Owens has been keeping busy of late and his iconic, fragile tones are the perfect foil for a crisply driven, understated production from Mercury. It's complemented by "Running Back To You", another vocal house track featuring the equally talented Christopher McCray which is an altogether more joy inducing experience, though equally indebted to 90s sounds. Big vibes abound on the flipside euphoria inducing "NY Feeling" whilst there is also a neat Till Von Sein tweak of the title track.
