Downwards' DO series delivers a welcome surprise in the form of the latest album from Midlands post-punk outfit Eyeless In Gaza. With a style that also takes in elements of folk, industrial, and even a filmic influence, the duo are a logical addition to the imprint, with Downwards head Karl O'Connor having known the duo's Martyn Bates for many years. Though the album is missing the rough edges of most of the Downwards catalogue - the baroque pop of "Reverie" or the dark 80s stylings of "You Are Grace" being a case in point - there's a haunted ambience present on tracks like "Dust" and "The Day Began" which makes this an equally moody and textured addition to the Downwards canon.
