Clone reach out to the eccentrically brilliant Erik Travis for a further round of Detroit electro funk on their Crown Ltd offshoot. Make You Rock, Travis' previous endeavour on the Dutch emporium, was one of our favourite releases this year, and Big Spender is further evidence of the FACT Records boss's obvious talent. If you can imagine the sort of heaving funk boogie nuggets PPU reissue transposed to the 21st Century then you get a good idea of the vibe across these five tracks. Lead track "Big Spender" is a certified jam with sinewy synth twists wrapping around the snapping kicks and the infectious vocal hook - it makes you wonder why talented producers like Travis are relegated to the fringes of American music whilst the risible Guetta conquers all; the thought of this Detroit producer making beats for Rhi Rhi or Beyonce is quite intriguing.
