London based producer Jozif drops his third release for 2010, following stellar 12"s on Wolf + Lamb and Fear Of Flying. "Beats In Space" is probably not an ode to Tim Sweeney's radio program (sorry Tim), although we can't be 100 per cent sure. Whatever the reference, the music speaks for itself; a killer low slung bassline dominates the whole thing, supported by intricate percussion and wonderfully unhinged, creaking door samples. Fabric resident and all round interesting character Craig Richards (under the Scumdolly moniker) offers an unsurprisingly leftfield interpretation on the flip, with almost all of the instrumentation sacrificed in favour of some piano, an ambient fuzz, crackling atmospherics and a spoken word vocal. Limited to 300 vinyl copies.
