The latest 12" on Chloe Frieda's crucial Alien Jams label showcases two of the most talented women in electronic music, Beatrice Dillon and Karen Gwyer. The former kicks things off with "Curl", an undulating, analogue-rich IDM track built around rubbery beats, rising and falling electronics, and serious phasing effects. On the flip, Gwyer gets moody on the superbly-named "Common Soundproofing Myths". With its restless drum machine rhythm, cascading acid lines, unsettling pads and dystopian field recordings, the track sounds like it was written for the end of days. Still, if the apocalypse is coming, you may as well be dancing.
