There's been a fair amount of hype about this first EP on Sleazy Beats new Black Ops offshoot, and it's not hard to see why. From perennial deep house fave Frank Brooker, it offers up a variety of quality deep house flavours, all with just the faintest hint of loose-limbed disco-funk. Check, for example, the hustling electro pianos and clipped guitars of "Out West", or the cut glass strings and dense percussion of "Credit"; both take deep house/disco fusion in a breezy new direction. Best of all, though, is the beatdown-goes-deep soul vibes of "The Sun", which is every bit as gorgeous as you'd expect.
