Deconstruct co-boss, Anthony Parasole returns to The Corner with New York's unsung mastering hero, Phil Moffa. Moffa has been responsible for a large number of mixdowns and post-production work over the years, kind of like an American version of Rashaad Becker if you like...Parasole and Moffa join forces on this EP and man, does it sound tasty! There are two versions of "Atlantic Ave", the first being a chugging mass of hi-hats, permeating in and out of an echoing wall of noise that almost sounds metallic; and the latter re-jumbles the percussion, making the kick drum more recognisable while retaining those dark and hollow tones. As the title suggests, "Ocean Bottom" is an ominous piece, and to be honest we're pleasantly surprised by a side of Anthony Parasole that we'd yet to see. The percussion is scarce and minimal, leaving only a wide terrain for the drones and effects that the duo have conjured - a sublimely interesting piece that puts a slightly more leftfield touch on the EP as a whole. Highly recommended!
