After a striking appearance on Wolf Music, the collective of wishing-to-remain-anonymous-but-clearly-quite-talented producers known as The Dead Rose Music Company succeed in further impressing here. There's a richly rewarding sensation that washes over you as "Am I Still The One" unfolds slowly; the usage of space impresses, allowing different elements to shine before the brief midway drop into silence brings them together. Steeped up to its figurative eyelids in layers of 80s balearic nostalgia but treated with a sheen of modern cavernous phasing, this is a track that demands repeat play. The associated remix from Rob Mello that is housed on the B Side is much more appropriate for dance floors, with a noticeably swifter pace, a bassline that exudes menacing warmth and much more prominence for the female vocals. Another fine release from the fledgling Eclectic Avenue imprint!
