Point B is the latest signing to the wonderful SCSI imprint and sees his crumbly approach to electronics getting the kind of attention it's long deserved. So precise it'll make your fillings hurt, Point B's ability to diamond-cut his beats is a genuine joy to behold - with opening track 'Figure' a case in point. Taking the often threadbare schematic established by the likes of Prefuse/Dabrye etc, Point B compacts spindly hip-hop into a dense entity that carries more weight than seems outwardly possible, allowing the lurching bass and cracked-glass beats to retain absolute momentum rather than spiral into a bout of sonic tail-chasing. Elsewhere 'Split' is just as effective, where a batch of oven-fresh melodies are fed to a stomping breed of electro that recalls the best of Autechre/Arovane etc, yet rather than proffering a mere facsimile, Point B refries the contents into a seething dance floor behemoth. Impressive.
