Finnish legend Lil Tony has beat a path away from former collaborators FBI with his Raw Trax releases, the second of which confirms his status as a true house master. Solid State is over 10 minutes long and full of pitch-perfect piano sounds that don't even sound looped - every 8 bars is unique and thrillingly different. Karamba is a pared down tech fest that sets itself up brilliantly for some rising, 1- note strings after a couple of minutes. Classic. Final tune Checkpoint Charlie is bass heavy and moody as hell, reducing itself down to some chunky organ stabs before letting fly with a jacking beat. All round masterfulness, this is well worth checking out.
