With typically deep and bumping releases from Si'ke DJs and Angus Jefford already in the bag for the MK and Scottie Deep run Say Ahh!, the imprint looks to Manchester for the talents of Oli Furness for its third release. "If I Was" is a stylish piece of dark vocal house, with understated synth horns rippling underneath the vocals of Elise, crisp hi-hats and a classic Chicago inspired bassline; its joined on the A-side by Furness' own "old skool remix", mixing up the original with some hands-in-the-air 90s Hacienda piano. On the flip, Mikki Funk's "deep dub" transplants the 80s Chicago vibe of the original to 90s New Jersey with its smooth house organ and firm 909 kick adding some welcome bounce, while Alex Agore's "dark garage dub" offers the record's most raucous moment with its MK-inspired shackling garage rhythm, sweeping pads and electric piano melody.
