1. | "How Do You Feel" (Kim Ann Foxman remix) |
Japan's favourite adopted disco son Max Essa sidles up for his debut on NeedWant whilst regular haunts Bear Funk and Is It Balearic aren't looking and drops some sunshine boogie vibes in the shape of "How Do You Feel?". Utilising the vocal chord flex of DC Mathias, Max crafts a typically muscular percussive groove that sits nonchalantly between disco and house. Atop this are a raft of funked out bass plods and gentle key strokes, whilst the ode flute flourish adds a pastoral touch to proceedings. It's the accompanying remix from Hercules & Love Affair cutey Kim Ann Foxman that's the real gold here - showing no signs of nerves on what is her first remix! Adding some beef to the drums and drowning the bassline in darkness, Foxman gives the track a winning old school house vibe but ensures there's a contemporary crispness to the sound. More like this please Miss Foxman.
