Detroit's Todd Osborn has been largely quiet since the release of his superb album as Osborne on Spectral Sound in 2008, but this year looks to see him return in style; as well as an Osborne single in the pipeline for Ghostly featuring Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, this single under his own name for Jared Wilson's 7777 label seems him indulge in his rawer side. "303" is, as the name suggests, a stripped back jam whose strong rhythms and acid tendrils are locked in a reverb-heavy gelatinous soup. With a name like "909", you'd think the flipside track would see the famous drum machine take centre stage, but actually it's a track that sees a veritable orchestra of synthesiser chords, arpeggios and bass create an 80s boogie pop take on house music.
