Over the years Chico Hamilton has had a series of dance floor successes: from his signature song 'Conquistadors' (from his 'El Chico' album on Impulse) to the
Brazilian influenced 'Strut' (from his 'Nomad' album on Elektra) which became so successful on the Northern Soul Scene that it had its own original dance!
Recently Chico's groove has been rediscovered and re-fused: from Thievery Corporation's inclusion of 'For Mods Only' (from Chico's Impulse album 'The Dealer')
on 'Sounds From The Verve Hi-Fi' to Rong Music's 12" release of 'Kerry's Caravan' by Mudd & Chico Hamilton to Mark De Clive-Lowe's take on Chico's classic
60s track 'El Toro' (from the 'Impulsive!' project).
Chico's stature amongst tastemakers in DJ culture is long-standing and profound. More recently Chico has turned the tables recording his own arrangements of
Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell's 'Je Ka Jo' and Blaze's 'Elevation'.
