Notes: Introducing the BD808, part of our new series of drum modules that brings analog percussion into the modular synth world, instantly turning your system into a self-contained music machine. Its small size, minimalist design, and modern production methods have allowed us to bring the world's most famous bass drum sound generator back at a very low cost. The real thing is here again.

The BD808 is the Roland TR-808's Bass Drum circuit adapted for use in Eurorack format and tuned to sound like a machine that comes fresh off the original 80's assembly line. The adaptation to modular format has allowed us to add some special features like independent Accent levels, a high-powered gain stage, dual-input pulse-shaper, and extended decay - all without compromising the signature sound of the TR-808.

A widely used technique with TR-808 machines is to run the drum sounds through outboard amplifiers to add gain and then pass the sound through just about anything to generate additional harmonics caused by clipping and distortion. In the BD808, we have already included this high-powered output gain stage capable of producing signals up to 20Vpp, extending from the original palette of sounds and allowing you to get an assorted array of harmonized bass drums ranging from sharp attacks to crushed tones using this simple yet effective technique! On the inputs, we have also designed a dual pulse-shaper circuit so you can trigger your BD808 with Trigger/Gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers, or any other pulse/clock sources. This saves you the need to shape the pulses sent to the module and ensuring the same stable sound at its peak power, regardless of differences in your pulse source.

All these little, but unique, features make integrating this legendary sound generator into your modular easy, unleashing the power of real analog drums and making those speaker cones shake.

Notes: Reverse-engineered from the original machine, our BD909 is an identical recreation of the original all-analog drum circuit of the TR-909. We've added additional controls and synthesis features that turn this classic circuit into a chest-pounding analog bass drum laboratory - all tightly packed into an 8HP module. The BD909 sound differs from our BD808 in that the main sonic energy is centered in the mid to low frequency range (as opposed to the low frequency range of the BD808). This frequency range gives the needed headroom allowing your bass Lines to deeply fill up the low end while the kick drum rides on top - creating a clear and punchy mix.

The BD909 includes all the controls found in the original: Attack, Decay, Tune Decay, Accent and Level. We have gone beyond that and added controls that further increase the palette of sound this circuit is capable of. First off, we've added a tuning control knob for the oscillator and included its own CV input and attenuator that let you tune your 909 kick with your bass lines. Next, we added control knobs for the tuning attack and extending tuning decay - each one affects the other, allowing for very intuitive and interactive sound shaping - this feature opens up numerous "sweet spots", and provides the ability to center the energy peak at different parts of the sound. Finally, we offer additional punch and distortion by giving complete control over the internal waveshaper, which allows you to overload the waveform manually or with voltage control.

Beginning with the classic and pure sound of the 909 kick, these additional functions greatly expand the BD909's flexibility and let it create powerful analog bass drums that range from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive - and everything in between.

Notes: The Circadian Rhythms is moving modular synthesizer technology another step forward by gluing all the pieces of a system together. Each module or voice can now be programmed to play straight from an intelligent, eight-channel, 512-step master trigger sequencer made for composers looking to make music on the modular. Building on the sequencing concept of step programing multi-channel patterns of musical phrases can be repeated, looped, chained, muted and manipulated on the fly in real-time, and most importantly, all of this is done through a simple, clearly labeled interface. Using an array of multicolor illuminated buttons and innovative grid views provides a highly functional live performance sequencer with a beautiful glowing appearance of the programmed music that will look amazing on stage for both performer and crowd. As a master controller, the heart of the modular synthesizer, Circadian Rhythms generates high precision clock and reset signals for all the other sequencers and devices in the system to align with and can also act as a high precision bridge for DAW synchronization.

Views - Unlike most hardware sequencers that have a single static display of a timeline, Circadian Rhythms offers four different horizontal views of the timeline and two unique vertical views that scale from macro to micro. Switch between viewing 64 steps at once or all 8 channels side by side instantly. Stretch gates over multiple patterns to drive envelopes or use Zoom view to move a single hit back a few milliseconds in time to get the right feel all from the same interface.

LED Grid Built for Quick Access - Built around 72 buttons set as a multi-color illuminated 8x9 array, Circadian Rhythms displays both note data and settings in a clear and precise manner. It takes only one click to switch to vertical view and the grid turns into a set of programming and realtime playing functions like Mutes, Loops, Swing, Fills, Copy and Pate, Grouping, Randomizing, Manual trigger entry drum machine style and many many more. Clock - Inside the CR ticks an extremely precise clock with jitter and latency measured in mere microseconds for the ultimate feel of groove. SyncBus Technology - The Tiptop Audio designed SyncBus enables the CR to connect to any number of other SyncBus devices with the highest possible level of synchronization. The CP909 is an exact reproduction of the original analog circuit and, with the addition of just one extra knob, "trashing" the frequency of the internal noise generator, we have added greatly to the spectrum of sounds that can be generated - all that without compromising the signature sound of the TR-909 clap.

The CP909 clap effect is made by a special triple-saw envelope generator that controls the gain of a VCA. The sound source feeding into the VCA is made by a quasi-random logic based noise generator; some might call it "digital noise" though this term might be misleading in today's world of microcontrollers and sound samples. What really makes the noise generator is a ring of logic gates, so primitive, so BO's, and that's the sound of the 909 Clap!

The CP909 includes a high-powered output gain stage capable of producing hot signals. On the inputs, we have designed a pulse-shaper circuit so you can trigger the CP909 with trigger/gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers, or any other pulse/clock sources. This eliminates the need to shape pulses sent to the module and ensures the same stable sound at peak power, regardless of your pulse source. Based on the architecture of the 909, the Accent input is versatile and able to take in both CV and Gate signals for continuously changing dynamics. All these unique features make integrating this legendary sound generator into your modular synth easy, unleashing the power of real analog drums.

Notes: TipTop's Flying Bus Board is a cable version of a distribution PCB (printed circuit board) and extends the reach of one of your uZeus cables or adds a third row.

Notes: The Fold Processor is a voltage-controlled wave multiplier and sub-octave generator. The circuit is based on a classic diode design that adds odd harmonics by folding the incoming signal, followed by subdivided square waves.

The wave folder creates new waveforms from standard sine, triangle, sawtooth, and square waves and includes a CV input with an attenuator, making it very easy to create beautifully animated folding sounds. Adjustable voltage-controlled Inject alters the bias point creating an even wider palette of sounds.

The subdivide generator squares the fold output generating 4 more sounds spaced one octave apart, each with its own gain knob and mixed to the Subdivide output jack. Mixing the four can create anything from discordant square wave swarms to sweet harmonic oscillator stacks, from a stable square version of the folded wave to freaky PLL-like glitched slides.

Overall results can sound evil at times and sweet at others, a true multi-faced devil.

The HATS808 is the TR-808's real, analog closed and open hi-hat circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and tested to sound just like it did back in the 80's. Adapting to modular foramt has allowed Tiptop Audio to add some special features for each voice, like independent accent levels, a high-powered gain stage, and a dual-input pulse-shaper. Filter Q and VC-Q knobs were added to the main band-pass filter for additional tuning and to allow you to generate crushed tones and self-oscillation at the knob's max position - all without comprimising the signature sound of the TR-808 hi-hats.

The HATS808 sizzling sound is made using six analog square wave oscillators mixed and processed by band-pass filters. This multi-oscillator design is what give the 808 hi-hat sounds their unique metallic character and akes each HATS808 sound slightlty different from one-another. The original "choke" circuitry that makes it sound so dynamic and tight is fully implemented, just like the original, but can also be disabled if needed, by disconnecting the internal connection between the two hats.

Just like the other drums in this series, the HATS808 high-powered output gain stage allows you to further harmonize the sound using distortion and clipping. They come with sixteen screws and special washers that help hold the screw in place during assembly and keep a tiny gap between the brackets and the Mantis. Installation is fairly simple and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Notes: Mariana Trench is an FDN card for the Z-DSP. Feedback Delay Networks (FDNs) are built around multiple delays which are connected to their inputs thanks to a feedback matrix designed for its stability and lossless properties. FDN can mimic the recursive process of sound waves bouncing back and forth in an acoustic space. They were first suggested for artificial reverberation by Michael Gerzon (1971) and later John Stautner and Miller Puckette (1982) introduced four-channel FDN reverberator with general stability conditions.

FDN can also be used as a special case of digital waveguides, they can be tuned, or also used as complex delays. The Mariana Trench Z-DSP cartridge is designed to explore these more unusual sides of the FDN algorithms. Mariana Trench Z-DSP cartridge is designed by Christophe Duquesne Anckorage - Haken Audio developement team - La Voix du Luthier.

Notes: MISO is a multipurpose utility module, a laboratory for synthesizing control voltage signals and audio. MISO combines multiple CV tools into one module for making complex CV shapes at the output stage. The name comes from the four main functions available: Mix, Invert, Scale, and Offset.

MISO's 2 sections (1/2 IN and A/B IN) are identical. Each section has two inputs that can be used to Mix signals, Invert polarity/shape, Scale magnitude and Offset voltage. Each function can be used independently or simultaneously with the total shape summed to the mix output.

At the centre of the module is another processor, an accurate smooth linear voltage-controlled crossfader that mixes equally between the outputs of the top and the bottom MISO sections. Feed the MISOs with envelopes, LFOs, Sequences to create new shapes and then crossfade them manually or with CV using the centre section for even further complexity of shapes and animation of control signals. Crossfade between the waveforms of a VCO or audio samples with CV for more motion.

There are an endless number of ways to patch MISO with unexpected and inspiring results. MISO is the kind of module that gives modular synthesizers its incredible replay value, rewarding hours of creative explorations and its experimental and non-traditional mixing.

MISO offers a lot in a small comfortable module that matches Tiptop's system look with clean white faceplate styling. A red/yellow indicator light next to each section makes it easy to see signals and visualize polarity.

The SD808 is the TR-808's analog snare drum circuit adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and was designed to sound like a fresh-out-of-the-box, 1980s TR-808 snare. Adapting the circuit to the modular format has allowed us to add special features like independent accent levels, a high-powered gain stage, a dual-input pulse-shaper, and an adjustable noise source - all without compromising the signature sound of the TR-808 snare drum.

The SD808 sounds tight and extremely snappy because it's analog - the real thing, not samples. The sound is made with three analog sound generators mixed together: two oscillating sine waves and a noise source. The SD808's front panel controls have a lot of sweet spots with sounds that are not just limited to snare drum sounds; it can also create other electronic percussive elements.

The noise source generator in the original TR-808 machines were revised in later production batches, resulting in variations in sound across the production run. The SD808 uses this later, revised circuit to create a snare drum hit that is slightly darker, has more body, and is more realistic. Just like other drums in this series, the SD808 includes a high-powered output gain stage capable of producing signals up to 20Vpp, allowing you to get an array of harmonized snare drums sounds with even tighter attacks. On the inputs, we have designed a dual-input pulse-shaper circuit so you can trigger the SD808 with Trigger/Gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers, or any other pulse/clock sources. This eliminates the need to shape pulses sent to the module and ensures the same stable sound at peak power, regardless of your pulse source. All these unique features make integrating this legendary sound generator into your modular synth easy, unleashing the power of real analog drums.

Notes: "It f*cks with the fabric of time" Tony Visconti describing Pitch Shifting to Brian Eno and David Bowie in 1976. That not so subtle description does quite neatly sum up what the Pitch Shift programs on the 'Time Fabric' card do!

Pitch shifting in the Z-DSP uses a technique called 'rotating tape head' delay lines named after pioneering tape based experiments in Germany in the 1960s. The tape heads move at speeds independent of the tape playback path and two heads are crossfaded to make a continuous output capable of beautiful pitched delay effects, harmonization and smooth reverbs.

These pitch shifting algorithms are much like the earliest digital pitch shifters released. Sounds similar to the Eventide H910, AMS 15-80 (with Pitch board) and Publison DHM 89 can be achieved. These programs are intended more for pure effects rather than the complex multiple harmony lines later devices and plugins became known for producing. Chords from single VCOs can easily be made using the 'Interval' programs on the card though.

Using a Z3000 to clock the Z-DSP, complete chaos from the delay lines and pitch shifting emerges, creating great and unexpected new sounds. Modulating the stereo pair of analog VC-Feedbacks animates the time and distance of the pitch shift opening up these algorithms for additional control from CV and audio signal alike.

The Trigger Riot is a multipurpose trigger module that makes ultra complex patterns of gates triggers and clock pulses. The Riot covers a lot of ground in any Eurorack system from the master clocking for your entire system to algorithmic generation of pulses for envelopes, step sequencers, drums and accents that can venture into highly complex territory driven by simple yet powerful logic and algebra with a dash of pseudo randomness for some unpredictable results.

The user interface allows a great deal of control over pulses with each knob acting as a clock divider, clock multiplier, step injector, time shifter, clock shifter, pulse-width modulator, and an arithmetic probability processor. Now take that control and multiply it by 16 and feed it into 8 outputs for maximum Trigger Riot madness!

Furthermore the interface features a master clock knob, push switches to mute unmute and select rows, and multiple switches to configure, adjust, create loops and save your work for later recall from memory banks.

Trigger Riot integrates nicely in the studio with non-volatile memory, generous synchronization options with external gear including sample accurate sync with DAWs, smart synchronization to other Tiptop modules using SyncBus, and DIN Sync for vintage gear. A precise internal tempo clock generator with tap tempo and BeatSync to manage precise changes round out the features.

Notes: The microZEUS is a 4HP power supply module for Eurorack format synthesizers. It is the smallest and most powerful power supply available for its size.

uZEUS with flying bus boards: this version features two ribbon bus boards. All you have to do is plug in your modules and play.

The uZEUS mixes linear and switching power technology to produce 1000mA at +12V, 500mA at -12V, and 170mA at +5V and uses a standard +15VDC non-regulated wall adapter for power.

Notes: Tiptop Audio's Z-DSP is a cartridge-based open source digital sound processing and effects generating platform for your modular synthesizer. Lush audio processing, greater stereo depth and a unique set of digital synthesis is what the Z-DSP is all about.

The Z-DSP has a stereo digital sound processor with 24-bit sampling, 15kHz of bandwidth, voltage-controlled parameters of stereo feedback, program switching, DSP parameters, equal power crossfading dry/wet mixing, as well as sequential program control switching and a clear display - all in Eurorack format. A dedicated clocking input for the DSP chip does wonders to passing sound by bending the algorithms in an unexpected way, a hardware technique computer plugins can't do and is unique to the Z-DSP.

In a recent update, the Z-DSP (NS) got an all new design of its analogue circuitry, contributing to a lower noise signal path, clearer sound of the entire frequency range, lower distortion and better immunity to noise emitted by other modules sharing the same power supply. A new analogue dry/wet circuit has been implemented to remove the 3db gain drop when the mix knob passes through the centre of the dial making the use of this function more practical in a live application. A reverse polarity protection has been added as well. The new front-panel matches Tiptop's colourful design, and a single printed circuit board and surface mount technology improve reliability during production and use. The powerful Z-DSP engine remains the same as the original Z-DSP module and all cards are compatible across both versions.

An assortment of interchangeable cards, programmed by Tiptop Audio and specialists like Valhalla DSP, provide a wide range of boutique effects algorithms such as Halls of Valhalla, Time Fabric, Clocked Delays and Grain De Folie. Tiptop Audio also offers blank Z-DSP cartridges and a development tool called NumberZ for developers, students and power users who want to design their own effects and cards with the FV-1 DSP chip programming language. Blank cards can be loaded using programs that are freely available for non-commercial use and can be found in the modular community through online forums. With each card swap, the Z-DSP takes on new effect algorithms, changing like a digital chameleon and bringing colourful digital effects processing to your Eurorack setup.

The Z-DSP comes included with 2 cards: Halls of Valhalla and Dragonfly Delay MKII.

Back in 2008, the original Z5000 was not only the world's first Eurorack DSP effects module but also the first Tiptop Audio module released. It brought voltage controlled digital effects to Eurorack for the first time and the Z5000 was eventually replaced by the Z-DSP open source platform. Now, years later with over a decade of experience developing audio effects for Eurorack signals we are introducing a totally new version of the Z5000: a compact stereo 8HP multi effect with voltage controlled parameters, VC analogue clock generator driving the DSP chip and 24 of our creme de la creme reverbs, delays, modulation, harmonization and pitch modulated effects. A number of programs in the Z5000 combine more than one effect, in series or parallel, that represent studio techniques from the early days till modern times often leaning toward the more experimental side.

Notes: Back in 2008, the original Z5000 was not only the world's first Eurorack DSP effects module but also the first Tiptop Audio module released. It brought voltage controlled digital effects to Eurorack for the first time and the Z5000 was eventually replaced by the Z-DSP open source platform. Now, years later with over a decade of experience developing audio effects for Eurorack signals we are introducing a totally new version of the Z5000: a compact stereo 8HP multi effect with voltage controlled parameters, VC analogue clock generator driving the DSP chip and 24 of our creme de la creme reverbs, delays, modulation, harmonization and pitch modulated effects. A number of programs in the Z5000 combine more than one effect, in series or parallel, that represent studio techniques from-the early days till modern times often leaning toward the more experimental side.

Notes: The ZEUS Passive Bus Board is used to distribute power to modules coming from either the first generation of ZEUS Powered Bus Board, uZEUS or any other power supply available from other manufacturers. The Passive Bus Board contain both standard quick fit terminals as well as screw terminal block for connecting to power. The quick fit connect are mounted on the bottom side of the bus board to provide clean wiring, while the screw terminal blocks available simultaneously upfront for the most simple and easy connection to power if needed.

Although called Passive, the ZEUS Passive Bus board can produce up to 220ma of +5V supply by its own built in regulator, giving you the confidence that a 5V supply will be there for you in case one of your new modules requires it.

This variety of reverbs covers small to epic size spaces with the addition of shimmering, feedback tunnelled pitch shifting, tape delay drivers, gated reverbs and a lot more. Analog clocking of the DSP chip and CV over the parameters enables even more experimentation. This is a collection inspired by the best from the past right at your fingertips.

This collection is specifically focused on shorter percussive samples and includes material such as multi-layer drum & percussion hits, chopped & processed loops, synthesized FM strikes, mallet and bell tones, sampled drum machines, various toms and hand drums, obscure noise boxes, sampled old-school game chips and much more. PERC makes full use of ONE's snappy character.

All samples on the card are available for playback at 48k, 64k and 96k for maximum versatility in pitch control while maintaining latencies of as low as 0.25 ms.

Notes: SBSTRT features 256 recordings of raw, natural earth sounds, all of which were created by manipulating numerous materials such as metal, stone, ice, earth, plastic, wood, vegetables, fruit and liquid to name just a few. Everyday sounds you may hear in a construction site, warehouse, traffic, crowd, factory, subway, garden, park, office or forest have been identified, performed and captured for integrating into the modular synth. These raw & unprocessed sounds were carefully edited to highlight their percussive qualities, making them an ideal counterpart to the electronic modular sound palette.

Notes: V Haus features 256 Deep House chords formed, structured and shaped from a variety of classic and modern day synths by Voltage Disciples chief sound designer Richard Somerville. The chord structures have been especially chosen to provide the configurations often used in Deep House and provide a starting point or stepping off point for complex chords in the modular environment. Some samples have subtle delays and reverbs which add characteristics often found in Deep House whilst others remain dry to allow the user further experimentation with modular delay's, reverbs and FX etc. With ONE's tape-like pitch control these chords turn into beautiful pads and bass material inside the modular.
